Objective:
Shake Move Grow has been founded to work with our community to provide scholarships to high school seniors, which will be used towards university tuition and books.
Who is eligible?
Chicagoland public high school students. We will have other scholarships for college available as we grow for continuing education and GED students.
What is the scholarship award amount?
We are fundraising for scholarships in the amounts of $300. The scholarship award amount will be posted per scholarship application.
How will schools be notified of scholarships?
We will market our scholarship program to guidance counselors and administrators of local area high schools in Chicago.
When are scholarships disbursed?
Our scholarships are open-enrollment. Scholarships will be disbursed per semester of the student's enrollment time.
What are the scholarship eligibility requirements?
In order to maintain eligibility and to qualify for consideration, students will:
- Official high school transcript of courses with a graduation completion date.
- Applicant must report his/her ACT or SAT scores either as part of the highschool transcript, or with and official score report. There is no minimum score required.
- Applicant must apply to a community college, trades school, or a 4 year university. Proof of enrollment must be attached to the application.
- Maintain a grade point average corresponding to respective scholarship criteria.
- Display ongoing, active civic duty and community participation.
- Qualify for financial need for scholarships.
- The awards are open to all full-time and part-time students attending a community college or 4 year university.
- Applicant must be in pursuit of his/her first degree.
- Provide responses to the scholarship essay application.
- Obtain (2-3) letters of recommendation.
How to Apply:
- The application must be completed in full and signed by the applicant.
- The applicant MUST submit the following documents with the application.
a. Offical highschool transcript of courses with a graduation completion date.
b. An acceptance admissions letter from a college/university planning to attend.
c. Must submit (2-3) recommendations completed by any of the following: a teacher, counselor, minister, employer, or other non-related adult. Contact information must be included so the SMG selection committee may reach this person during the selection process, if so desired for an interview. - ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED INTO SHAKE MOVE GROW BY 5:00PM on the DATES LISTED per scholarship. Students who are applying for the SMG Scholarships will have to be interviewed, and commit to attend (1) community events sponsored by SMG. Students photo and bio will be featured on website and newsletter.
How will the scholarship winners be notified?
Shake Move Grow will notify the scholarship winner on our announcement website and via e-mail and phone call. Please make sure you have correct contact information.
How will funds be disbursed to the students and university/college?
Scholarship funds will be disbursed directly to the student with current school class schedule e-mailed.
Students will be responsible to alert Shake Move Grow Scholarships about their school choice and send a copy of the admissions letter from the respective school of their choice.
